Been a bit rubbish…

Since coming back from SA, I discovered my niece (my cousin’s daughter) was getting married, so I went back to China.  It was fairly last minute, don’t think work appreciated it but hey I wasn’t going to miss my baby niece’s wedding for anything!

One the way back I’d caught some nasty bugs and had been sick since mid Nov and had only just recovered in time for Christmas!  Hooray!

I had a lovely time with The Boyfriend’s family today… and he’s now making desserts in the kitchen.

Merry Christmas everyone!  Make sure you eat lots (I know I have and will continue to for the rest of the day) :)

Mama Lan Jnr is back in London!

Wow what a holiday!

Feeling thoroughly exhausted after a full on two week holiday in South Africa.  The Boyfriend’s sister got married in July (to … wait for it! A South African) but was renewing her vows in SA for the family members who couldn’t travel to the UK.

What to say about South Africa?  In a word, BREATHTAKING!  I’ll leave the pictures to speak for themselves, but in brief, the highlights were the wildlife in Kruger Park and the naturally beautiful scenery in Cape Town.

Camps Bay

We saw all the African ‘Big Five’ in Kruger and the most mesmerising sight was when a lioness walked 2 metres in front of our car for 5 minutes.

Food wise it was meat, meat more meat.  Real meat!  Meat you couldn’t find in London.  We had beef ribs on open fire BBQ, the juiciest steaks and meatiest lamb chops.  Whilst the Boyfriend was never to be seen without Biltong (essentially dried meat and SA national snack!), it wasn’t quite my thing.   Seafood in Cape Town however, was loved by all!
