What a dinner!
Last week The Boyfriend tried to make egg tart for our April dinner and failed miserably. A week later, it was our dinner and he hadn’t had the chance to practice… guess what? The boy did good. He made some perfectly formed Chinese egg tarts, the only trouble was they took him 4 hours. My mum and I had to work in the living room to make the rest of the dinner (3 starters plus main vs. 1 dessert – come on! Some perspective pls)
It was good that everything went well, as we had an unexpected guest in the shape of Master Chef finalist, Sara Danesin Medio!
Being avid watchers of this year’s Master Chef competition, The Boyfriend and I were a little star struck when we recognised Sara. Like all our guests though, Sara was fun and a pleasure to chat too – she even had a go at making boazi with Mama Lan! It was fascinating to hear little snippets about how Master Chef is filmed and the pressure the contestants were under. However, the most OMG story of the night was when Sara told us that the contestants had to do the washing up after catering for the Merlin film crew! Cleaning up after one of dinners for 12 people is tough enough but cleaning up after a whole day cooking for over 150 people must have been torture!
Though everyone chatted to Sara throughout the evening, no matter how many times we asked Sara just wouldn’t give any clues as to who had won this year’s final.
We will just have to tune into BBC for the next few weeks to come!
Before I sign off on the blog, a special thank you to Graham who had to introduce the cocktail to all our guests on the night because I couldn’t pronounce Chrys –an-the- mum tea!
